Skala Eresou beach stretches for almost 3 kilometres along the western coast of Lesvos, featuring fine dark grey volcanic sand and calm, crystal-clear waters that are sheltered from the summer Aegean winds (meltemia). The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag numerous times for the quality and cleanliness of its waters. Cafeterias, bars, and traditional tavernas line the seafront, and the area is ideal for water sports, while it is also historically renowned as the birthplace of the poet Sappho.
Skala Eresou is accessible by road via two routes (from the north and from the west), with car parks available on the outskirts of the village, as vehicle access to the central square is restricted due to a one-way, one-lane system.
